Great Architecture In London #1

St Paul’s Cathedral is an amazing building that you can never really take for granted. Unfortunately most of it is swathed in scaffolding for its restoration but I managed to get this rather nice shot of the dome while cycling home today.

The campus board at The Castle is a bit of a challenge, especially when (like me) you’ve not been climbing for some time. Managed to struggle up a few rungs, though, which was nice… :-)

The wonder of childbirth, the joy of parenthood… described in quite revolting detail!

Cheeseburger Brown’s Trimester reports on K5 are very, very funny - have a look…

Monk on the tube

Thursday, July 24th, 2003

Westminster tube station was re-designed a few years ago, when the new Jubilee Line Extension was created. It’s designed to look slightly futuristic, I think, with moulded concrete and rough walls illuminated by harsh lighting. The large open spaces are criss-crossed with huge cylindrical beams. Quite a sci-fi feel to the place - you can imagine playing some sort of multi-player game there (in fact, it would be excellent for paintball…).

So it was quite bizarre to see what looks like a monk-type chap chatting to what looked like some people in Royal Navy uniforms. The contrast was too much to resist taking a picture! It almost makes me think of Doctor Who, or a slight tatty looking Jedi wandering around…

Hello, everybody! It’s me! With my little camera! Reflected in my little rear-view mirror on the side of my monitor! Wow!

I was exploring lots of bits of London today and found by chance this gate to a nature reserve in Buckhurst Hill.

Bow Church

I work near Bow Church. There’s a pub on the corner of the courtyard so went for a few beers there last night, where you get this rather nice view of the steeple.

Welcome…

This is Maynard Case’s photo weblog - hi! Come in, but remember to wipe your feet.

I was recently given a L’Espion digital camera. This is a tiny camera which takes - well, frankly, pretty rubbish pictures. But it’s so small you can take it anywhere, and with 20 photos on its memory you’re almost guaranteed to get at least one decent and/or interesting shot.

So I’m going to be sticking up a random photo every few days for your interest and delight. Hope you like them…
