Hungover climbing

Tuesday, March 9th, 2004

Visiting Dave in Birmingham, part 2: we get up stupidly early (like, before nine) on Sunday for some reason. By about 11 we’re down at the Rockface for a spot of climbing, which devolves into a competition to do silly moves on the bouldering wall:

Westway

Rope over rock

Went climbing with Barry at Harrison’s Rocks today. Good stuff (if a lot of driving) - thoroughly recommended to any other top-roping indoor climbers like myself!

The crags are set in a forest so you get quite amazing scenes like these tree roots dangling down the rock:

You get loads of people down at the rocks when it’s a nice sunny day…

The campus board at The Castle is a bit of a challenge, especially when (like me) you’ve not been climbing for some time. Managed to struggle up a few rungs, though, which was nice… :-)
