Downtime

Wednesday, November 7th, 2007

Apologies for the lack of service and the bizarre errors which have been popping up on this blog and my photoblog. There has been some issues with the database on my previous host (domaincity.co.uk); I was convinced that there were issues with the database, and they were convinced that the server side was fine and the issue was with my software.

I’ve now migrated to a different hosting provider (bluehost.com) who seem to be much more advanced and seem to be able to run the blog without any database errors, strangely enough.

I still have to migrate a few more things from my previous host before all is back to normal. I’ll let you know when I’m done.

New blog structure

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

So, this is the new blog set up - I’ve split the previous site up into two parts: a photoblog and this linkblog. There’s separate RSS feeds for each, so you will need to update your subscriptions.

There may still be some issues with various links and there are many sections of the site which need to be updated, but bear with me and I might get around to it at some point!

Back

Friday, February 2nd, 2007

So, it’s been a while. But that’s what happens when your web hosting gets hacked as a result of a vulnerability in your blog software! So a bit of downtime, reinstalling the latest version of MT, hacking the database to get the installation to work and general cursing later, I’m back and ready to post more photos, links and other rubbish.

I am also looking at migrating to Wordpress after a relatively painless experience setting up a website for the vets in New Malden using it. I’ve also upgraded my gallery to the latest and greatest version.

So, some more links shortly, then some photos, and so forth. There may be a bit of a hiatus next week, but after that I should be firing on all four cylinders.

Recently listened

Tuesday, November 21st, 2006

Just to mention that I’ve added a “recently listened” bit on the sidebar on the main page. (RSS consumers, click on the link to see the front page in its full glory!)

This is assembled by last.fm, a rather nifty online radio service that notes what you listen to and can then recommend new tracks and artists, or let you listen to other people’s choices. It also grabs what I listen to at home via iTunes or the fantastic Amarok.

It will no doubt be a bit out of date, but I don’t imagine anyone will know or care :-)

New Recipes

Monday, September 25th, 2006

Just to let you know that there’s some new recipes available. You might be interested in some plum-glazed pork, or some Murgh Makhani?

Apologies

for the disgraceful lack of activity recently. I have no reasonable excuse, but can promise some quality linkage and interesting photography in the forthcoming days…

Apologies

Tuesday, August 2nd, 2005

for the lack of posts recently. Unfortunately, the blog software I use is having problems after the hosting company rebuilt this webserver. I can post entries as long as they don’t include any HTML, which rather restricts virtually every post I would otherwise make…

Anyway, a nice chap called Andrew is looking at it for me so hopefully I should be able to share some more photos and links with you soon.

Blogroll

Tuesday, July 5th, 2005

Blech. I hate buzzwords, especially when referring to weblogs.

However, a list of other blogs that I find interesting or worthy of browsing is a nice idea, and so I’ve added it on the left here, just below the searches.

Any other weblogs you might want to suggest? Let me know.

New House

Thursday, April 28th, 2005

Apologies for the long gap in posts. I’ve moved to a new house and so lots of time has been spent organising, packing, moving, unpacking and starting to decorate. We’re getting there.

If you know me in the real world and would like my new address, give me a call. My personal mail address is not available at the moment, so please use my work email address.

We also have a nice Japanese Maple in the garden:
